To give grants to existing Nigerian-owned private institutes that offer training courses, programs, and technical certification in the movie industry.
The capacity building grant may be used to upgrade existing facilities, procure equipment and develop internal capacity to offer a set of courses/training programs, which address key skills gap.
The institutes must show proof that they were registered before 1st January 2013 and be competent enough to train according to global best practices (including for organizations partnering with training programs from reputable international film institutions) on a sustainable basis.
The Fund is open for applications from July 2013 to December 2013. Courses commencing after 31st December are eligible provided the application is received before 31st December 2013.
Guidelines for Applications (Institutions)
- Institutes must be registered in Nigeria with the clear mandate to impart knowledge in filmmaking (CAC registration and Articles of Memoranda)
- Proof of address (e.g. utility bills, etc.)
- Applications must have a valid e-mail address
- Institutes must submit:
- Filled online application form in all its parts
- Valid website address where information on courses, technical team and track record can be accessed
- Proof of training track record (e.g., online videos, awards of training excellence, information on the number of trainees per year, etc.)
- Valid identity document (national ID, international passport, national driving license) of the proprietor.
- A short description (2 page maximum) about how the requested grant will be deployed and how its deployment expects to increase and improve the value of training and the sustainability of the business.
- Applicants whose online submission is successful shall be notified by email and - where applicable - invited for interview
- Grants shall be paid directly to the training institute after a success at the review and eventual interview stage where verification of all requested documentation will be assessed and where necessary, a team from the Project office will visit the training institution.
- Please note that grants shall be processed only after confirmation email of success at the review and where applicable interview stage is acknowledged and a response received by the applicant. Grants are paid into a valid Nigerian bank account only.
- Successful applicants will be selected on a first-come-first-served basis.
- Please note that applicants who fail to prove they deployed the grant for the intended purpose will be asked for a refund (this will be reflected in an MoU). Project ACT must be invited to review the facilities towards which the grant was deployed.
- Successful candidates must fill the evaluation form provided within 3 months from the completion of the grant's deployment and state and measure the grant's impact clearly.

Please note: Applications from government-owned training institutions are invalid and shall not be considered. This is because other public funds are targeting such institutions and Project ACT wishes to avoid duplication. Only privately-owned training institutes in existence prior to 1st January 2013 and with proven track record are eligible to apply to the Project ACT - Capacity Building Fund.
